Not an upgrade — a brewhouse.

The BrewTaurus K220 3V is a 225 L three-vessel electric brewing system in 304 stainless: K220 HLT with HERMS coil + K220 mash tun + K220 boil kettle, 14 kW of Tri-Clamp heating, two MP-40RM pumps and a counterflow chiller. 110–175 L into the fermenter, up to ~64 kg of grain. Full sanitary Tri-Clamp architecture, no proprietary parts.

Vessels K220 HLT with HERMS coil + K220 mash tun + K220 boil kettle
Batch into fermenter 110–175 L
Max grain bill ~64 kg · ~68 kg at 2.4 L/kg
Heating 14 kW — 2× 3.5 kW (HLT) + 2× 3.5 kW (boil kettle)
Electrical 230 V · one dedicated, RCD-protected circuit per element (4 in total)
Pumps 2× MP-40RM — 45 L/min, 4.6 m head at 50 Hz, up to 100 °C
Wort chilling counterflow chiller, single pass
Brim-full volume 225 L per vessel
Guarantee 2-year legal guarantee (EU consumer law)

What's in the system

  • Dedicated K220 HLT with HERMS coil — strike and sparge water, plus mash recirculation through the coil for step mashes and mash-out with no direct heat on the grain bed
  • K220 mash tun: laser-cut false bottom, 200 × 280 mm grain door with chute
  • K220 boil kettle: 2× 2" element ports, centred 1.5" drain
  • Heating elements: 2× 3.5 kW (HLT) + 2× 3.5 kW (boil kettle)
  • Pumps: 2× MP-40RM
  • Stainless manifold · 15× 1.5" Tri-Clamp quick-connects · integrated sanitary 4-way cross · thermowells
  • Counterflow wort chiller, single pass · inline oxygenation via a 1.5" carb stone

Not included: heating controllers (see Control below).

Heating & boil

  • 2× 3.5 kW (HLT) + 2× 3.5 kW (boil kettle) · one dedicated, RCD-protected circuit per element (4 in total) · heating controllers not included
  • Heating pace: boil kettle ~0.5 °C/min at 180 L — mash-to-boil in ≈55–60 min while the HLT heats sparge water in parallel
  • Boil: rolling boil at 170–180 L, boil-off up to ~8–10 L/h

Grain & gravity

Grain for 12 °P (OG 1.048) at 175 L ~39 kg
Maximum grain bill ~64 kg
Gravity at maximum grain, 175 L ~18 °P (OG ~1.074)

Mash thickness 2.4–3.2 L/kg; don't go below 2.3 L/kg. The mash tun takes the grain; the boil kettle sets the batch — so extra grain capacity means stronger beer, not bigger batches.

Hydraulics, cooling & cleaning

  • 2× MP-40RM for HLT→mash transfer, recirculation, sparge, whirlpool and knockout — MP-40RM specs
  • Pumps are not self-priming: mount them below the liquid level and flood the head before starting.
  • Counterflow chiller, single pass to 18–22 °C with 10–15 °C mains water; ~18–28 min for 180 L (typical).
  • CIP: fit a 1.5" CIP spray head to a 1.5" lid port and recirculate cleaner with the MP-40RM.

Installation: One dedicated, RCD-protected circuit per element (4 in total) — have a qualified electrician size and connect the circuits, stable water supply for the chiller, flat, load-bearing surface (filled system ~450–560 kg). Plan the electrical and structural preparation before delivery.

Control: K-Series systems ship without heating controllers. A dedicated BrewTaurus control unit for the K40/K80/K220 is in development and planned for release in spring 2027 — it will connect to the existing elements and pumps without replacing any vessel. Until then, use a third-party controller rated for the full current of each element.

1V vs 2V vs 3V — which K220 configuration

Same vessel size, same batch (110–175 L into the fermenter), three brew days. More vessels mean more grain, parallel steps and no lifting. Your configuration is highlighted.

Config Vessels Max grain Heating · pumps · chiller
K220 1V kettle + malt pipe ~57 kg 7 kW · 1× MP-40RM · no chiller
K220 2V mash tun + boil kettle ~64 kg 7 kW · 2× MP-40RM · counterflow chiller
K220 3V HLT (HERMS coil) + mash tun + boil kettle ~64 kg 14 kW · 2× MP-40RM · counterflow chiller

FAQ

How big a batch can I brew?
110–175 L into the fermenter.

How much grain fits?
About 64 kg. A 12 °P beer at 175 L needs ~39 kg; at maximum grain you reach ~18 °P (OG ~1.074).

What power do I need?
2× 3.5 kW (HLT) + 2× 3.5 kW (boil kettle) at 230 V, with one dedicated, RCD-protected circuit per element (4 in total). Have a qualified electrician size and connect the circuits. Power control is external.

Does it come with a controller?
No. A dedicated BrewTaurus control unit is planned for release in spring 2027; until then, use a third-party controller rated for the full current of each element.

Product photos may show a prototype or a different size; production units follow the manufacturing drawing.

Gravity figures assume 70 % brewhouse efficiency (65 % at maximum grain); your mill, malt and process will move them.
