Pineapple, lime and fresh tropical fruit from a hop with Hallertau Mittelfrüh for a mother. Kohatu is gentle on alpha and loud on fruit.

What it does in your beer
Kohatu brings lime, pineapple and fresh tropical fruit, with a medium alpha that keeps bitterness easy to manage. The grower calls it dual purpose, with an excellent finish and quality bitterness.
It works on its own in a single-hop beer, where the fruit is balanced by what the grower calls the extraordinary quality of its bitterness. The grower also notes that higher addition rates can pack a fruit-driven punch in bigger beer styles.

How to use
- Late boil: the recommended slot is the final (third) addition.
- Dry hop: the other recommended use for this lot.
- Single hop: the grower rates it for single-hop beers that show off its fruit.
- Bigger, stronger beers: higher addition rates push the fruit harder, per the grower.
Pairs well with
