Ripe orange, peach and a creamy vanilla edge. CIP 076 is an experimental New Zealand hop, and a 20 ml bottle is a low-risk way to taste it in your own beer.
Experimental NZ variety · Zero bitterness · Pale ale 10–15 ml/hL · IPA 15–20 ml/hL · New Zealand · 20 ml
What it does in your beer
Citrus and orange blossom, ripe peach, a creamy vanilla note and tropical fruit, per the producer's tasting notes for the oil; the hop itself is described as intense ripe orange, peach, nectarine and mango with an earthy undertone. CIP stands for Clayton Innovation Project — the producer's breeding programme — so this is a variety still known by its code.
The oil adds aroma and flavour only (alpha, beta and iso-alpha acids each below 0.1 %). Hazy IPAs, pale ales, pilsners, Pacific ales and lagers are the suggested styles. A code name instead of a variety name — the aroma is anything but anonymous.

How to use
- Shake the bottle thoroughly.
- Dilute the dose in a little of the beer, or in warm (not hot) water, before adding it.
- New to the variety? Do the producer's bench test first: 1–2 drops in 150 ml of beer, stir, wait a couple of minutes, taste.
- Dry hop with or instead of pellets — replace 25–50 % of the pellets to begin with.
- Whirlpool below 85 °C, or bright tank and keg. Keep it out of the kettle, and dose before carbonation.
Pairs well with
Brewing a hazy IPA? Try it with WHC Lab Pineapple Passion yeast and some BESTMALZ BEST Wheat or oat flakes in the grist.

Good to know
- 20 ml bottle of an experimental variety — no official variety name yet, just the code.
- Zero bitterness: IBUs still come from your boil hops.
- Undiluted, it's a flammable liquid and a skin and eye irritant that can cause skin sensitisation (producer's safety data sheet). Out of children's reach, away from flames, and always diluted in beer or water.
