Real unitank architecture — scaled to 80 L.
Jacketed stainless steel Unitank with 8" top access, 2" dump, full Tri-Clamp architecture and pressure-capable fermentation workflow.
The BrewTaurus PF80 Unitank is built like brewery hardware. Not like a simplified homebrew toy.
It is designed for brewers who want proper yeast management, sanitary connections, glycol control and room to grow into more advanced fermentation workflows.
Everything is modular. Everything is serviceable. Every port has a job.

What this unitank actually is
The PF80 is a jacketed, pressure-capable conical Unitank built for fermentation, temperature control, yeast dumping, sampling, cleaning and pressure-assisted cellar workflows.
No proprietary nonsense.
No decorative ports.
Just a clean stainless platform that makes technical sense.
Why PF Unitanks are different
- Real bottom dump: a proper 2" Tri-Clamp outlet for yeast and trub handling
- Jacketed cooling: efficient glycol control without putting a cooling coil inside the beer path
- Full Tri-Clamp workflow: modular, sanitary and easy to upgrade over time
- Pressure-capable construction: supports modern fermentation and closed-process workflows
- Large 8" top access: better cleaning access, easier inspection, more flexibility for accessories
This is for you if
- You brew roughly 20–75 L batches and want real glycol temperature control
- You want a proper 2" dump for yeast and trub handling
- You want Tri-Clamp sanitary connectivity instead of improvised fittings
- You want to run pressure fermentation, cold crash and closed-transfer style workflows
- You want a fermenter that still makes sense when the rest of your cellar gets more serious
Pressure rating
- Working pressure: 1.0 bar
- Max pressure: 2.0 bar
- Use case: pressure fermentation, controlled carbonation support, closed process workflows
Jacketed cooling (glycol-ready)
PF80 uses a cylindrical cooling jacket around the main body for stable and efficient fermentation temperature control — without placing a cooling coil inside the beer path.
- Jacket type: external cylindrical cooling jacket
- Jacket connections: 2 × 1.5" Tri-Clamp (glycol in / out)
- Cooling logic: clean stainless beer path, no internal coil to scrub around, no obstruction during CIP or dumping
- Best efficiency zone: once liquid level reaches the jacket band, heat exchange becomes significantly more effective and stable
- Insulation support: supplied neoprene jacket helps improve cooling stability and overall thermal efficiency
Batch range and cooling efficiency
Based on the tank geometry, the PF80 gives you a very usable operating window for both fermentation and maturation.
- Total gross volume: 80 L
- Cone volume: approx. 18 L
- Jacket-covered volume: approx. 74–75 L
- Minimum batch for effective jacket engagement: approx. 20 L
- Recommended fermentation batch range: approx. 20–75 L
- Typical sweet spot batch size: approx. 40–70 L
- Maximum practical fermentation fill: approx. 75 L depending on yeast, kräusen behavior and process setup
Why this matters: below roughly 20 L, most of the liquid sits mainly in the cone, so the jacket is not fully utilized. Above roughly 75 L, you start reducing fermentation headspace and move into a less forgiving fill level for active fermentations.
What the geometry gives you in practice
- The cone gives you meaningful space for trub collection and yeast concentration and
- The cooling jacket covers the main working zone of the tank, which is why PF80 performs best in its real batch window
- The tank remains compact enough for serious homebrew or pilot-scale use, while still giving you proper cellar-style workflow
Port architecture
Every port has a technical purpose. This is what makes the tank easy to clean and flexible.
- Top access: 8" Tri-Clamp
- Main dump / bottom outlet: 2" Tri-Clamp
- Accessory / process ports: multiple 1.5" Tri-Clamp ports for sampling, thermowell, sensors and accessories
- Glycol ports: 2 × 1.5" Tri-Clamp
Dump-ready from day one
The PF80 is built for real yeast management. Dump, sample, harvest, clean, repeat.
- Dump port size: 2" Tri-Clamp
- Conical angle: 60°
- Cone behavior: suitable for yeast concentration, trub collection and cleaner separation during fermentation and post-fermentation handling
What you can run on this tank
- Temperature-controlled fermentation
- Maturation with glycol stability
- Cold crash workflows with minimized oxygen exposure
- Pressure fermentation
- Closed-transfer oriented cellar setups
- Yeast dumping and harvesting directly from the cone

Why these numbers matter
The PF80 is not just “an 80 L tank”. The useful part is how the geometry works in practice:
- The approx. 18 L cone gives you real space for trub and yeast collection
- The jacket band covers roughly 74–75 L of usable tank volume, which is why the tank performs best in the 20–75 L range
- The 8" top opening makes access, cleaning and accessory integration much easier
- The 2" bottom dump means this tank behaves like proper cellar equipment, not like a compromise fermenter
Recommended accessories
PF80 is fully usable out of the box, but the right accessories can push the tank much further.
- Spunding valve – for controlled pressure fermentation and pressure finishing
- Carb stone kit – for carbonation and gas integration workflows
- Additional thermowells and sensors – for more advanced control setups
- Sight glass – for better visual process control
- CIP accessories – for more efficient cleaning workflows
- Gas and transfer hardware – for more complete closed-transfer setups
FAQ
Is this glycol-ready?
Yes. PF80 is jacketed and uses 2 × 1.5" Tri-Clamp jacket connections for glycol in / out.
What is the real batch range?
Technically, the tank geometry supports about 20–75 L as the recommended fermentation window. Around 40–70 L is the most forgiving everyday operating range for most brewers.
Why is the minimum batch around 20 L?
Because below that level, too much of the liquid sits mainly in the cone and does not fully engage the cooling jacket. The tank still works, but cooling efficiency becomes less ideal.
Can I fill it to 80 L?
The total gross volume is 80 L, but for active fermentation you normally want headspace. That is why the practical fermentation max is around 75 L, depending on beer style, yeast behavior and process control.
Can I use it for pressure fermentation?
Yes. PF80 is pressure-capable and built for modern fermentation workflows.
Why jacketed cooling instead of an internal coil?
Because it keeps the beer path cleaner, less obstructed and easier to manage. You get stable heat exchange through the jacket without placing extra hardware inside the fermenter.
Is PF80 only for fermentation?
No. It also works well for maturation, cold crash, yeast harvesting and closed-process cellar workflows.
This is not just a fermenter.
This is a real unitank platform.
