Steady mash temperatures for the K40.
The removable HERMS coil from our K40 Hot Liquor Tank, sold on its own: about 11 m of 304 stainless tube wound into a Ø240 mm coil, about 190 mm tall. It sits in the K40 kettle body on the two lower front ports, 191 mm apart. Pump the mash liquor through it, and the hot liquor around it holds the mash on temperature — no direct heat on the grain. It connects through two 1.5" Tri-Clamp threaded adapters — order two HERMS coil fittings with it.
What you need with it
- 2× HERMS Coil Fitting (1.5" Tri-Clamp threaded adapter)
- A pump to circulate the mash liquor — e.g. the 15R pump

Do I need a pump?
Yes — HERMS means pumping the mash liquor through the coil. Our K40 systems use a 15R pump.
Does it come out for cleaning?
Yes. Release the clamps and lift it out.
