Fast wort chilling. Clean process. Real brewery connections.
The BrewTaurus Counterflow Wort Chiller is built for brewers who want faster knock-out, cleaner transfers, and a more serious hot-side workflow than a basic immersion chiller can offer.
At the core is a 12 mm convoluted copper wort path inside a 19 mm stainless steel outer shell. Hot wort and cooling water flow in opposite directions for efficient heat exchange in a compact footprint.
Why buy it
- Faster chilling than typical immersion-style solutions
- Sanitary 1.5" Tri-Clamp connections as standard
- Compact, brewery-style counterflow design
- Easy integration with pumps, hard piping, hoses, and CIP workflows
- Excellent heat transfer thanks to the copper inner tube
- Stainless exterior for a cleaner, more durable brewery setup
Modeled performance example
Actual performance always depends on cooling water temperature, cooling water flow, wort flow rate, and target outlet temperature. But under good conditions, this chiller is designed for strong single-pass performance.
- Example conditions: cooling water at 5–10°C, clean system, good pump, single-pass chilling
- Suggested starting point: around 7–9 L/min wort flow per chiller for efficient knock-out
- Modeled equivalent performance: roughly 8.5–9 L/min under favorable conditions
- 25 L batch: approximately 3 minutes
- 50 L batch: approximately 6 minutes
- 100 L batch: approximately 11–12 minutes
- 600 L batch: approximately 70 minutes with one chiller
- Need faster knock-out? Two chillers can be used to significantly reduce total chilling time
If you want to run higher wort flow rates such as 10–15 L/min, the outlet temperature will usually rise. In that case, either slow the flow or use two chillers for faster cooling while staying closer to pitching temperature.
Technical highlights
- Inner wort tube: 12 mm convoluted copper
- Outer shell: 19 mm SS304 stainless steel
- Connections: 4× 1.5" Tri-Clamp
- Mounting: M6 threaded point
- Design: compact 6.5-coil counterflow layout
Cleaning
The Tri-Clamp format makes this chiller easy to integrate into a clean brewing workflow. Flush with hot water immediately after use, run an alkaline cleaning cycle, rinse thoroughly, and sanitize before the next brew.
Serious heat transfer. Serious connections. No plastic nonsense.
