Orange, tangerine and apricot over a floral, gently spicy backbone. Pacifica joins old-world hop character to new-world citrus, and this oil delivers it with zero bitterness.

Zero bitterness · Lager 3–5 ml/hL · Pale ale 10–15 ml/hL · Whirlpool, dry hop & keg · New Zealand · 20 ml

What it does in your beer

Orange, tangerine and clementine with ripe apricot, floral notes and a touch of spice. The producer describes the variety as a blend of old-world floral and spice with bright new-world citrus — with a classic Hallertau-like floral, earthy side. The oil adds none of the bitterness: alpha, beta and iso-alpha acids are each below 0.1 %.

That balance makes it a natural for lagers and pilsners that want a citrus edge, and it's equally at home in pale ales and IPAs. It's extracted from wet hops within 24 hours of harvest, with no plant material left in the bottle.

How much for a 20 L batch

Lager & lighter styles (3–5 ml/hL) 0.6–1.0 ml
Pale ale (10–15 ml/hL) 2–3 ml
IPA (15–20 ml/hL) 3–4 ml
Hazy IPA — producer's starting trial (20–50 ml/hL) 4–10 ml
Hop water (3–15 ml/hL of water) 0.6–3 ml

Approx. — the producer's ml/hL rates brought down to 20 L. Whichever row you pick, one bottle does it. Use a syringe; a lager dose is a millilitre at most.

How to use

  • Shake well.
  • Blend the dose into a little of the beer, or warm (not hot) water, before adding it to the tank or keg.
  • Late in the process is its sweet spot: whirlpool below 85 °C, dry hop, or bright tank. Not the kettle.
  • Replacing pellets? Start with 25–50 % and adjust from there.
  • Add before carbonating, so head retention stays intact.
  • Try before you commit: 1–2 drops in 150 ml of beer, a stir, a couple of minutes, then taste.
