Fresh lime, lemon zest and a mojito twist, without a single pellet in the fermenter. Motueka's bright citrus as a water-soluble oil that adds no bitterness.
Zero bitterness · Lager 3–5 ml/hL · Pale ale 10–15 ml/hL · Dry hop, whirlpool & keg · New Zealand · 20 ml
What it does in your beer
Motueka brings fresh lime and lemon zest with a mojito-like lift, backed by orange spice and a juicy tropical note. The hops are processed wet, within 24 hours of harvest, so the aroma stays true to the variety. Bitterness is off the table: alpha, beta and iso-alpha acids are each below 0.1 %.
The producer calls the variety extremely versatile — lagers and pilsners, pale ales and IPAs, even English, Belgian and European ales. At lager rates you need about a millilitre or less for 20 L.

| Lager & lighter styles (3–5 ml/hL) | 0.6–1.0 ml |
| Pale ale (10–15 ml/hL) | 2–3 ml |
| IPA (15–20 ml/hL) | 3–4 ml |

Approx., the producer's ml/hL figures scaled to 20 L. One bottle covers any of these in a single batch. A 1 ml syringe makes the lager dose painless.
How to use
- Give the bottle a good shake.
- Disperse the dose in a little of the beer, or in warm (not hot) water, before it goes into the tank or keg.
- Dry hop: use it with pellets or in place of some of them — the producer suggests replacing 25–50 % of the pellets to start.
- Whirlpool: below 85 °C only. It isn't made for the kettle.
- Add it before carbonation, not after, to protect head retention.
Swap it for
Rather dry hop with pellets? Motueka T90 pellets are in our range. The producer's 50:1 guide works both ways: about 1 kg of T90 pellets for every 20 ml of oil.
Pairs well with
Brewing a pilsner or a crisp lager? Try it with Czech Pilsner Malt as the base and Lallemand Diamond lager yeast.
Making hop water? The producer's recipe uses Motueka with Riwaka and Nelson Sauvin oils — all three are in our range.
Storage & shelf life
- Unopened, it keeps 2 years. It tolerates room temperature away from sunlight, but the producer prefers a cool, stable place such as the fridge.
- After opening, purge the bottle with CO₂ or another inert gas, close it and refrigerate. Finish it within 2–3 months.
- Don't freeze it.

FAQ
How much Motueka oil for a 20 L lager?
About 0.6–1.0 ml, from the producer's 3–5 ml/hL for lagers and lighter styles. A pale ale takes 2–3 ml.
Can I add it to the boil?
No. It isn't intended for the kettle. Use it in the whirlpool below 85 °C, in the dry hop or in the bright tank or keg.
How do I make hop water with it?
The producer's recipe: water with citric acid to below pH 3 (130 g per 100 L), boil 15 minutes, cool below 15 °C, add Motueka, Nelson Sauvin and Riwaka oils at 6 ml/hL each, chill below 4 °C and carbonate to 2.8 volumes. For 20 L that's about 26 g citric acid and 1.2 ml of each oil (approx.).
How long does an opened bottle keep?
2–3 months in the fridge, ideally with the headspace flushed with CO₂. Don't freeze it.
